"Come in, come in"
she said, old style,
warm, welcoming.
"This is your room."
It is, to say the least,
generous. Floor to ceiling
bay windows, albeit
overlooking the main road.
No matter, a little road noise
when the welcome
so friendly, room so clean,
tea tray so full.
Her stories are rich,
shared with love.
A counsellor, a philosopher
an, it WILL be alright in the end-er.
After the last bed is made,
the last full English served,
she will leave this 1887 house
with only a suitcase of memories.
This the B&B of hope and hospitality,
this old school landlady,
this one of a kind landlady,
this, bottom line not for profit, landlady.
One of many lives lived
within these walls.
