“Legal immigrants and their descendants are being vilified, and we didn't want that to go unnoticed...”
The Albums
“...fly beyond the border’ is Marina Florance at her best.”
Released on Folkstock Records Jan 2016 "her soft, warm & vulnerable voice has you melting into the songs, thoughts of classic country stars Patsy Cline & Patti Page respectively come to mind, often conjuring a Cohenesque feel to her acoustic, retro-sounding meld of folk, blues & Americana...unfussy, simple and heartfelt, it’s one of those albums that curls up in your lap when you need a little comfort & leaves you ready to face the day anew" Mike Davies, Folk Radio UK
“After a couple of listens to This, That & The Other, you’ll find yourself nodding your head as her clever storytelling tunes wash over you.”
— Steve Taylor R2 Magazine
Three songs inspired by shared memories from retired participants taking part in Colchester Memory Afternoons project. Proceeds go to paying for the manufacturing of the CD's, then to support the work of The Warm & Toasty Club
These 3 songs were written after Jules & Marina attended our Memory Afternoons on the coast of Essex. The group sessions where a great place for retired participants to share positive & poignant stories of their younger days, charting some of their journeys in life, often through World Wars &/or times of great social change in the UK.
